ARC--Arlington Runners Club was just founded in January, 2006. Its concept is simple yet far-reaching. After recently signing up for my second marathon and sensing a need to raise awareness for a charitable cause, I spearheaded a pledge drive and raised over $1,300. This was by no means unique, but it did give me back a greater sense of purpose and personal reward for my participation.
This fueled my training afterward by looking for new and creative ways to not only to enjoy this sport of running, but to invite others to share in this same passion. This sparked the running club and our mission—to provide fitness and reward charity at the same time. So if joining or volunteering with ARC is something you’d be interested in, I’d love to hear from you as well.
I have a photo of a rainbow that I took while with my family in Hawaii. It is this arc that provided the namesake for this running club. It also serves to remind me of my own personal faith, of the many wonderful ways the Lord provides for us, and it motivates me to give back in every small way I can. God bless!

ARC Chairman Mission Realized – A message from the Directors We meet for a morning run every Saturday at the airport and some of us meet in the evenings during the week at the Centennial Trail on an informal basis. There is a real camaraderie among us and we are like a family. We come to be encouraged and motivated to achieve our goals. Training advice and stories are freely exchanged. Safety is important to us so we run in a group and mostly on trails away from traffic. The area is rural and it is not uncommon to run with rabbits (4 legged) and to see an occasional deer. Forming a non-profit and hosting the first fun-run was a learning experience. None of us have ever done anything like this but we figured things out along the way. Thanks for understanding. We now have 5 annual fun-runs on 3 fast and scenic courses. We are a volunteer club and no one receives any compensation except personal satisfaction. Thank you to all the volunteers who contribute their time and effort at the registration tables, water stations and on the course. Finally, a very special thank you to our Sponsors! They fully fund all race expenses such as insurance, bibs, shirts, awards and timing services so we can give 100% of the funds raised at the events to local charities. We encourage you to please stop in and patronize the 2008 sponsors below:
